Roma ponder move for River Plate’s Montiel

Roma’s incoming General Director, Tiago Pinto, is ready to begin his adventure in the Italian capital as the transfer window is set to reopen.

The Portuguese executive is ready to reinforce the Giallorossi in January and his primary focus appears to be on the right back role.

Corriere dello Sport has reported today that one of the names the Giallorossi are considering for the position in January is River Plate’s Gonzalo Montiel.

The contract of the Argentine, who possesses a Spanish passport, expires in June and River Plate could look to cash-in on the player next month in order to avoid losing him for free.

His release clause costs $20 million but his contractual situation offers the margins for a negotiation. However, Roma will likely have competition for his signature as Bologna are also interested.
