Roma have identified Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito as the ideal January reinforcement for Jose Mourinho’s backline.
Ito’s versatility and talent in covering multiple positions – ranging from a traditional centreback to a more offensive leftback – have put him on Roma’s radar for the upcoming transfer window, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Japanese 23-year-old arrived in Stuttgart last year and took everyone by surprise, featuring in 31 matches for the Bundesliga side, with his value now being estimated around twenty times that of the original price Stuttgart paid for him in 2021.
Roma are now reportedly preparing a bid for Ito, although the club are determined not to go over €5-6 million.
