Roma President Dan Friedkin personally communicates sacking decision to Mourinho

Andy Mattioli

Roma have officially announced the immediate departure of head coach Jose Mourinho.

After two and a half years, Mourinho is no longer in charge of the Giallorossi.

The capital club decided act as soon as Roma dropped to ninth place in the league following the defeat to AC Milan on Sunday.

As reported by Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, Roma President Dan Friedkin personally reached out to Jose Mourinho last night to communicate the club’s decision to sack him mid-season.

The American owner felt the team’s poor results and performances were unacceptable and maintained the club can still turn it around with a managerial switch.

The current favorite to replace Mourinho is Daniele De Rossi – the legendary captain could return to Roma until the end of the season.
