Roma President Dan Friedkin is once again playing a pivotal role in the capital club’s transfer market.

The American owner of the club is said to have been involved in recent talks for Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk.

In recent days, Dovbyk became Roma’s top target, following the Giallorossi’s completed deals for Matias Soule and Samuel Dahl.

In order to get to Dovbyk, Roma had to first overtake Atletico Madrid in the player’s list of preferences.

Once that was done, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport reports that, during first meetings with Dovbyk’s camp, Roma President Dan Friedkin personally stepped in and guaranteed to the player and his entourage that the club will do everything it takes for him to become a new Giallorossi player.

Furthermore, the pressure of the coach, Daniele De Rossi, proved to be fundamental in convincing the Ukrainian: this is also one of the reasons for the definitive “no” to Atletico Madrid.

Thus, after obtaining the player’s ‘yes’ and agreeing to personal terms, Roma will work to finalize an agreement with Girona.
