Primavera midfielder Luigi Cherubini made his senior debut in Roma’s win over Slavia Praha on Thursday night.
Cherubini became the tenth Primavera player to make his first team debut under Jose Mourinho.
In the post-match interview with Roma TV, Cherubini described the special moment and thanked Mourinho and the club for their support.
“It was a beautiful day starting from the training camp with the team, being all together, experiencing the atmosphere in the first team’s locker room which is always good and helps prepare for the match,” said the 19-year-old.
“Getting to the pitch, winning above all, taking three points in an important match. That’s special. Then the debut is an indescribable emotion. Since you were a child you have chased the dream and thought how wonderful it would be to get a chance like the one I got today, seeing the older ones start ahead of you.”
“As time passes you get closer to the goal and it is the culmination of all the sacrifices. I thank Mourinho and all the staff for their respect and trust. Then my teammates and the Primavera staff who are always close to me especially in the most difficult moments. I thank my Primavera teammates like Pagano and Pisilli who were close to me. I dedicate all this to my family and to all my true friends who have always been there in times of need.”
