Roma are reportedly focusing on getting a deal done for Atletico Madrid defender Caglar Soyuncu.

The Turkish centre-back is now rumored as the capital club’s favored reinforcement for this January window.

After adding 18-year-old Dean Huijsen to their squad on loan from Juventus, Roma want to further strengthen their backline by going after a more experienced defender.

Soyuncu is the first name on Tiago Pinto’s shopping list, reports Il Tempo.

The ex-Leicester City man is facing limited playing time under coach Diego Simeone and could depart Spain on loan for the remainder of the season.

However, first Roma must secure the exit of at least one player – either Leonardo Spinazzola or Renato Sanches – before being able to make a proposal for Soyuncu.
