RomaPress – After completing deals for goalkeeper Mile Svilar and midfielder Nemanja Matić, it’s increasingly likely Roma’s next transfer acquisition will be Lille right back Zeki Çelik.

Following weeks of negotiations, the Giallorossi and Lille are closing in on an agreement for the permanent transfer of the 25 year-old defender.

Earlier this week, Roma relented and raised their bid for the Turkish international, who contract expires next June, after insisting they weren’t willing to increase their original €6 million offer.

The capital club’s latest proposal is worth €7 million plus bonuses, much closer to Lille’s €9 million asking price. As a result, Roma are pushing to finalise the operation by this weekend.

They already have an agreement in place with Fazil Özdemir, Çelik’s agent, for a five-year contract and are accelerating to wrap up talks with Lille.
