Roma, Qatar Airways “nowhere close” on new sponsorship agreement

RomaPress – There could be a new sponsor on the front of Roma’s kits next season.

After featuring as the club’s main sponsor for the previous three years, the Qatar-based airline could depart when their agreement with the Giallorossi expires at the end of June.

The original deal between the sides was signed in April 2018 under the club’s previous ownership regime. However, after acquiring Roma last summer from James Pallotta, The Friedkin Group have made improving the club’s commercial and sponsorship revenues a priority — something that has led to an impasse in contract renewal talks with the aviation giant.

A source from Friedkin claims that the sides are talking but that a new deal “isn’t anywhere close”. They also insist that “all options are being evaluated as we look to find a sponsorship agreement that suits all parties involved.”

The sides are still locked in negotiations, but time is quickly running out for a deal to be struck.
