Roma ranked second in least shots on goal allowed in Serie A

Andy Mattioli

Despite suffering a painful 4-3 defeat to Sassuolo less than a week ago, Roma’s defense continues to rank among the best backlines in Europe under the condition that Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling and Roger Ibanez all start together.

According to Il Messaggero, the three Roma centrebacks have maintained the second best record in shots on goal conceded all season long with only 81 shots allowed.

Juventus lead the ranking in Serie A with 65 shots on goal allowed.

The team’s defensive efficiency and stability dramatically decreases whenever one of the three starting centrebacks is unavailable.
