There has been reportedly a first contact between Roma and former Italy and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte.
The capital club are currently in one of their more significant slumps in recent years: Mourinho and his men are sitting ninth in the league table with only 29 points to show for in 20 Serie A games.
As a result of the team’s poor results and mediocre performances, Roma’s owners, Dan and Ryan Friedkin, are pondering a managerial switch.
Despite Mourinho’s willingness to continue working for the Giallorossi beyond the expiry of his contract, Roma are increasingly convinced of parting ways with the Special One sooner than later.
According to La Repubblica, the ownership is determined to change and has turned towards Antonio Conte.
There have been direct talks, the former national team coach is in the plans of several high-level clubs and therefore Roma need to move quickly if they want to secure his services.
Conte, for now, has not accepted Roma’s offer, he has taken his time, there are many variables and necessary evaluations to be made on his end: the latest transfer market for the Giallorossi requires some reflection. The coach needs guarantees, he is not satisfied with promises.
At the moment the Roma ownership must also appoint the next sporting director who will take up the legacy of Tiago Pinto.
