Roma have reportedly made progress in their pursuit of French right-back Lorenz Assignon.

Negotiations between the Giallorossi and Rennes are on-going, according to Italian media reports.

The player is waiting for the two clubs to formalize the operation.

Rennes, who have just acquired Hans Hateboer, know they cannot offer space to the new signing and have therefore accelerated negotiations with Roma to let go of Assignon who spent the second half of last season on loan at Burnley.

However, to conclude the deal, some contractual details still remain to be defined.

As reported by siamolaroma.it, it has been confirmed that Rennes are asking for at least an obligation to be inserted into the player’s loan to close the operation. Roma, at the moment, have only gone as far as offering a loan with option.

Discussions between the club and Assignon’s agents are constant, but a total agreement on the contractual level is still missing. There is, however, a verbal agreement with the Frenchman.

The player, eager to break the deadlock, hopes for a quick conclusion of the agreement.

With work underway and the need to resolve the final details, the negotiation could soon reach a definitive turning point.
