One of Roma’s priorities this summer remains the addition of a fast, strong centreback to rotate with Gianluca Mancini and Evan Ndicka.

In the last few hours Roma have shown interest in Arthur Theate, a Belgian defender, former Bologna man, currently in force at Rennes.

The Giallorossi have already had relations with the French club, having bought Le Fée a few weeks ago.

Rennes is asking for at least €20 million for Theate’s transfer, including a fixed part and bonus.

Roma, which wishes to strengthen the defence and protect Svilar, have identified Theate as their main target.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is ready to submit an offer to the French club.

De Rossi has long been looking for a fast centre, left-footed, versatile and with good passing skills, able to play both in the four-man defence, positioning himself on the centre-left, and in a three-man scheme, assuming responsibility in the setting of the game.
