Roma are reportedly in advanced talks with Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu.

The ex-Leicester City man is eager to move away from his current team, Atletico Madrid, where he’s struggled to get any playing time at all this season.

Soyuncu is now the favorite to strengthen Roma’s defense until the end of the season, seeing as the Giallorossi have been coping with Chris Smalling’s prolonged absence and Evan Ndicka’s involvement in AFCON.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are ready to sign Soyuncu on loan from Atletico – all they need for this to happen is for one player, either Spinazzola or Renato Sanches, to depart the club. This would free up a slot in the roster for players over 22 years of age.

Sanches seems to be the closest one to leaving the Italian capital. Once his outgoing transfer is complete, Roma will formalize Soyuncu’s signing.
