Roma relying on positive relations with Lille in competitive race for Jonathan David

Roma have been linked with Lille star Jonathan David who could become the capital club’s big summer signing.

The Canadian forward is the latest idea to strengthen Roma’s attack as the Giallorossi will be forced to part ways with Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Big Rom is expected to return to Chelsea, awaiting his next destination.

In the meantime, Corriere dello Sport reports that Roma’s new technical director, Florent Ghisolfi, has put Jonathan David in his sights as Lukaku’s long-term replacement.

The competition for David is fierce – the player’s contract is set to expire next year and as a result numerous clubs have lined up to make their bids this coming summer.

Roma, however, argues the newspaper, are hoping to utilize their excellent relations with Lille advisor Alessandro Barnaba to their advantage.

Barnaba helped facilitate the deal for Zeki Celik a few years and could be of help in any negotiations involving David who has already communicated to Lille his willingness to move elsewhere.
