Roma are still not out of the race for free agent Mats Hummels.
The German defender has been linked with the Giallorossi in recent days after his agents offered him to the Italian capital club.
Earlier today, reports emerged that – despite Roma’s concrete interest in him – Hummels was in advanced talks with Mallorca.
The news caught the Roman and Italian media by surprise.
However, both Corriere dello Sport and Sky Sport deny the reports claiming Hummels is on his way to Mallorca.
Both outlets confirm Mallorca’s interest but reiterate that Roma appear to be Hummels’ priority at the moment given the more prestigious status of the club.
According to Sky Sport, Roma is still in the running and is evaluating the costs of the operation between commissions and wages.
The negotiation with Hummels’ camp could be accelerated in the event of the departure of Chris Smalling – the Englishman is rumored to be on his way to Saudi Arabia.
