Roma manager José Mourinho is eager to acquire a new midfielder in January and his sights remain fixed on Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria.
The Giallorossi attempted to acquire the Swiss international, whose contract expires in June, over the summer but were rebuffed by the Germans.
According to Sky Sport, Roma have reopened discussions with the Bundesliga side to discuss a transfer to the Italian capital for the 24 year-old.
Mourinho wants to bring Zakaria to the club this season even if it means Roma has to pay a cut-rate fee.
Should Zakaria continue to reject contract proposals from Mönchengladbach, the club may decide to sell him in January as opposed to losing him for free after the season.
