Despite one year remaining on his contract with the club, Davide Santon could leave Roma this summer by terminating his deal.
The former Inter defender is just one of the several players that the Giallorossi are keen to offload this summer as they don’t factor into the club’s future plans.
Il Messaggero reports that Santon is willing to leave Roma during this upcoming transfer period, however, he would only do so if he were to become a free agent, which requires terminating his deal one year early.
In order to accomplish this, the Giallorossi would need to hand the 30 year-old a small payoff in exchange for his agreement to prematurely cancel his contract.
Santon currently earns €1.5 million (net) in wages per season and has appeared in only 32 matches for the Giallorossi over the previous two seasons.
Should he ultimately depart the Italian capital, he won’t be short on suitors. Several clubs have already expressed interest in his services, including Lorient, Sampdoria, and Besiktas.
