Roma's hot streak to begin 2023 continued this evening after they marched into Liguria and dominated hosts Spezia with a 2-0 victory.
The win extended the capital club's winning streak to 7 in all competitions and also moved them into a top four place following Juve's point deduction following the investigation into corrupt accounting practices.
From start to finish, Jose Mourinho's caused major problems for Spezia, who didn't register a single shot on target for the entire match.
Luca Gotti's side struggled to create any sort of attacking actions and struggled to contain Roma's counterattacking football.
Although dominant, the Giallorossi were held scoreless through the first 44 minutes as Spezia did just enough to keep them from scoring.
From the onset the visitors had opportunities to open the scoring but Stephan El Shaarawy and a free kick from Paulo Dybala let their chances go astray.
Just when it looked like the sides would enter the break even at 0-0, El Shaarawy secured the Giallorossi a 1-0 lead, capping off a brilliant counterattack led by Paulo Dybala.
Tammy Abraham added an insurance goal just moments after the halftime break. After a brilliant run, the Englishman calmly slid the ball beyond the grasp of Bartlomiej Dragowski, securing all three points for Roma.
The win gives the Giallorossi a vital three points ahead of next weekend's showdown versus league leaders Napoli.
