Roma are keeping several options alive ahead of the January window.
The capital club are in search of an additional midfielder in order to strengthen Jose Mourinho’s roster, and with Zaniolo being linked with an unexpected exit from the capital, the Giallorossi could soon find themselves eyeing major reinforcements.
Besides Davide Frattesi of Sassuolo – who is unlikely to join in January given Sassuolo’s demands – Roma are still considering Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Frenchman is nearing the expiry of his contract and his entourage are in touch with Roma’s management as they wait to find out what the future may hold for the 24-year-old. Both sides are on excellent terms with each other.
Lyon are reportedly willing to let Aouar go in January for around €5 million, a sum which Roma could afford to pay in case Zaniolo were to leave in the coming weeks.
