Roma still in the race for Alkmaar’s Koopmeiners

Despite numerous rumors of him signing with Atalanta, Teun Koopmeiners of AZ Alkmaar is still on Roma’s radar. The talks between Atalanta and the Dutch side have come to a standstill in recent days and the Dutch international is looking around for options.

According to De Telegraaf, Koopmeiners and his agent are on the look-out for other valid destinations, with Roma being one of them. Tiago Pinto had already expressed the club’s interest in the player earlier in the summer before veering towards the more experienced Granit Xhaka.

The Dutch newspaper reports that Roma as well as Arsenal and Rennes are still in the race for Koopmeiners who intends to leave the Eredivisie to play on a bigger stage. Roma may be pursuing the Dutch international in order to put pressure on Arsenal and accelerate the Xhaka deal.

One thing is certain, Koopmeiners remains an important alternative for the Roman club and a profile that Mourinho appreciates a lot.
