German centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou – who had been linked with Roma as one of the preferred defensive targets for the summer for the capital club – has signed with Stuttgart.
After entering free agency in July, Zagadou failed to draw interest from abroad given his excessive demands which were rumored to be the primary cause for Roma dropping out of the race earlier this month.
The Giallorossi were reportedly interest in bringing an additional defender given their lack of depth for Jose Mourinho’s backline. Other names included Jason Denayer who is close to Wolves, and ex-Napoli man Nikola Maksimovic.
