Roma are seriously thinking of making a second attempt for Atletico Madrid winger Rodrigo Riquelme.

The 24-year-old remains Roma’s main alternative to Federico Chiesa who is yet to respond to the Giallorossi’s proposal.

At the moment, Chiesa is still far away from making a decision on his future.

As a result, Roma are keeping their options open and reinserting Riquelme into their list of preferred reinforcements.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma had already reached a general agreement with Riquelme’s entourage a while ago.

The main obstacle continues to be posed by Atletico whose asking price is deemed to elevated by Roma.

A few weeks ago, Roma submitted an offer worth 20 million euros which was rejected by the Spanish giants.

In light of Chiesa’s hesitant stance, Roma are thinking of launching a new proposal for Riquelme.
