Roma intend to keep veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic despite an approach from Stade Rennais.
The Serbian player was recently offered a long-term deal with Rennes which motivated him to ask the capital club for a transfer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Matic’s transfer request stems from personal reasons which have nothing to do with the team’s dressing room dynamics.
However, the capital club reiterated their intent to keep him and would only consider Matic’s departure in case of an offer of no less than €5 million.
So far Rennes have failed to come up with any offer as they were hoping for Matic to leave on a free – this option is not being considered by the Giallorossi.
