Roma are monitoring with enthusiasm Mile Svilar’s rapid ascent from back-up goalkeeper to Daniele De Rossi’s first choice in goal.

Over recent weeks, Svilar put in consistently impressive performances, collecting 3 crucial penalty saves along the way in Serie A (vs Fiorentina) and Europa League (vs Feyenoord).

The 24-year-old is set to continue starting for the Giallorossi for the remainder of the season as Rui Patricio has been pushed over to the bench where he has been reportedly acting as a mentor-like figure to his younger teammate.

According to Leggo, Roma are open to rediscussing Mile Svilar’s role in the club’s long-term plans.

Initially, Roma were set to look for a strong starting goalkeeper in the summer, but Svilar’s impressive growth has prompted the club to reconsider this option.

The Giallorossi could seek to extend Svilar’s contract by increasing his current salary – Svilar presently earns less than €1 million.
