Roma have reportedly turned down the services of free agent Joel Matip.

In recent weeks, Roma have began preparations for a major revolution of their squad in the summer.

Daniele De Rossi’s roster is expected to undergo several changes.

With Chris Smalling, among others, set to leave the Giallorossi in the coming weeks, Roma have drawn up a list of potential replacements.

The most talked about name right now is that of veteran centreback Mats Hummels who is said to be in talks to join the capital club for at least one season.

Hummels, however, is not the only free agent that has been offered to Roma ahead of next season.

According to Retesport, Roma were recently approached by Joel Matip’s entourage.

The 32-year-old defender is only a couple of weeks away from becoming a free agent as his contract with Liverpool will not be renewed.

Matip is coming off a serious injury which prompted Roma tor readily turn him down.

The Giallorossi are not interested in the Cameroonian centreback.
