Roma-Vermaelen at the final details

Roma will use the weekend to overcome the final obstacles for Thomas Vermaeken and deliver to manager Luciano Spalletti a competitive squad with a new defender.

Roma Are ready to conclude the negotiations initiated with Barcelona for Vermaelen as confirmed yesterday by Spalletti. Barca decided to call the Belgian for the friendly with Liverpool scheduled today in London, however, this is no indication of the operation being stalled, reports Il Tempo. The two clubs have not yet found a definitive agreement, however, the gap between supply and demand is only a couple of million: €12 million total has been requested by the Spanish club versus the €10 million proposed by Roma. Although the deal is delayed by a few days, the Giallorossi won’t have problems bringing Vermaelen and should have him before the 8 August deadline to submit the team list to UEFA for the Champions League Playoffs.
