Roma announced today that Volvo has officially become the official car sponsor of the club. Roma CEO Umberto Gandini and Volvo Car Italia president Michele Crisi held a joint press conference today at Trigoria to announce the partnership. These are their words:
Gandini begins: “For the next three years, Volvo enters the family of our great partners. I emphasize the word ‘family’, as this is one of the themes that led us to get in touch with Volvo. For our part, there is a lot of attention paid to the families of our fans, our employees, and all the friends of Roma. Likewise, protecting the family is at the center of Volvo’s mission, which has the greatest focus on safety among its goals. We are also both alike in the field of innovation: Roma has constantly embraced advances in the digital world, while Volvo is developing state-of-the-art systems of its own.”
Crisi: “We are extremely pleased with this agreement. First of all because Rome is one of the most important cities in the world, just as Roma are one of the most important clubs in the world. We are proud to be part of this family.”
For Gandini: Do you feel different air for the next Derby given the presence of the fans?
Yes, it’s a very important week for us. It’s my fifth Derby and we’ve won two. It is a clash between two great teams, it will be nice to see so many people that represent how important the Roman Derby is.
For Gandini: What do you expect from this week that will be important for the Stadio della Roma?
We look forward to what we have been expecting for years, which is, the approval of what is a very important project for us, we hope everything goes well. It’s a very important week because we also play a match that provides a good chance of qualifying in the Champions League. It is an important period on and off the pitch, we are focused and confident.
