Roma’s European campaign is on the line this evening when they host Feyenoord this evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

Down 1-0 on aggregate, the Giallorossi need a victory to overturn their defeat in last week’s first leg in order to progress to the Europa League semi-finals.

After a calamitous performance in the first leg, which included a missed penalty and a Paulo Dybala injury, Jose Mourinho’s men got back on track when they hammered Udinese by a 3-0 scoreline on Sunday.

Despite losing in Rotterdam, Jose Mourinho’s men enter Thursday in a familiar position. The capital side have secured progression in each of their last three European ties after dropping the first leg by one goal.

“I haven’t left Trigoria for the past two days. I’ve been locked inside and haven’t left, so I am completely oblivious to whatever is being said outside of our training facilities,” Mourinho told the press ahead of the clash.

“I’m calm here but it’s a strange sense of calm, it almost feels artificial. I’m 200% sure that the fans will want to play with us tomorrow. I want to have 67,000 players on the pitch with us.”

Adding, “I don’t need spectators. Spectators are one thing, spectator-players are another thing. I expect people who want to play the game with us. Either we win and go to the semi-finals or we go home sad, but tired after having given everything. That’s the goal.”

As for their opponents, Feyenoord boss Arne Slot insisted can’t rest on their laurels despite the narrow advantage entering the match.

“At the Olimpico we will start all over again despite the 1-0 advantage. And even if we were to lose tomorrow, I would sleep well that same night and definitely not stay awake for the next ten months,” he told Voetbal International.

Kick-off is scheduled for 21.00 CET at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
