Following the international break, Serie A is back this weekend for round eight of the 2022/23 campaign.

Roma return to action in a heavyweight showdown at San Siro to face-off against Scudetto favorites Inter on Saturday evening.

Separated by just one point in the Serie A table, both teams enter the encounter on the heels of defeats before the international stoppage. The Nerazzurri fell 3-1 to Udinese while the capital club lost 1-0 at home to Atalanta.

In addition, Simone Inzaghi and Jose Mourinho will have to deal with important absences. Inter will be without star striker Romelu Lukaku and key midfielder Marcelo Brozovic while Roma’s marquee summer signing, Paulo Dybala, is dealing with a muscular injury.

“This will be a very challenging game,” Inzaghi told reporters during his pre-match presser.

“Roma are a strong team with a great manager, and they got better over the summer. We have to prepare well for this match.”

Adding, “Yesterday was the first time I saw all the boys again at my disposal after the break. We analyzed the defeat in Udine and at the same time we prepared the match for tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, it will mark the fourth time Jose Mourinho faces his former employer since joining Roma in the summer of 2021.

The Giallorossi lost all three matches against Inter last season and haven’t beaten them at the San Siro since 2017.

Kick-off is scheduled for Saturday at 18.00 CET in Milan.
