Roma – and Claudio Ranieri in particular – want to rely on Mats Hummels next year, too.

Since Ranieri’s arrival, Hummels has become a staple in the Giallorossi’s line-up, providing much needed solidity and leadership at the back and helping Roma turn things around after a poor first half of the season.

Now, La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that the club are considering offering Hummels another one-year contract.

Ranieri is very fond of the 36-year-old and sees him as a crucial player to lay the foundations for a solid team of the future.

However, at the moment Hummels is still not ready to say yes or no to a new contract.

The German veteran will have to evaluate his family situation before committing to any new spell in the Italian capital.
