Tiago Pinto, Roma’s new General Director, will officially be unveiled to the media tomorrow after he joined the Giallorossi on January 1st from Benfica.

The first item of business for the Portuguese director, who will oversee all sporting related decisions at the club, is getting new deals done for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, and right back Rick Karsdorp.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the club’s top priority is to get a Mkhitaryan’s contract renewal finalised and deposited as soon as possible due to a specific option within the language of their baseline agreement.

Reportedly, the new contract won’t be deposited until the season is completed, at which point Mkhitaryan must give the club the “OK” to officially submit it or inform the club that he will be departing for free since his deal expires in June. It’s not a common occurrence, however, it is the exact same situation that Fiorentina encountered with Mohamed Salah, who ultimately refused La Viola’s option to buy him after he became aware about the opportunity to join Roma.
