Roma are reportedly growing increasingly worried about the status of defender Chris Smalling.

The Englishman hasn’t seen the pitch in over a month due to an acute chronic tendon injury which has caused him to undergo a lengthy individual recovery process.

With less than two weeks left until Roma’s match with Monza, Jose Mourinho was hoping to integrate Smalling back with the rest of the team in group training.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are no signs that Smalling will make his return to group training activities anytime soon.

The centreback has been hesitant to rush back and, as a result, Roma are now considering adding another defender to their roster in January.
