Roma, Zaniolo confirm ACL tear

Both AS Roma and Nicolo Zaniolo have confirmed the reports from earlier today that the Giallorossi’s starlet suffered a torn ACL during yesterday’s Nations League clash between Italy and the Netherlands.

The capital club released a statement confirming that the youngster will undergo an operation tomorrow and will be out for an extended period of time.

“Nicolò Zaniolo will undergo surgery on Wednesday after MRI scans today confirmed the player has suffered a complete tear to the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee,” it read.

Zaniolo also took to his official Instagram page to confirm the devastating news, “For the many people asking how I’m doing, this morning I underwent scans, which revealed a torn ACL in my left knee”.

”I thank all of the Roma fans and others for the support. I’ll be back soon,” the attacker stated.
