Roma are closely monitoring Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapié of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen ahead of today’s opening of the summer transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi made an inquiry about the 20-year-old centre-back who has also been linked with Tottenham in recent days.
At the moment, Hincapié’s price-tag is considered too elevated by Roma – €15 million, a sum the club are not prepared to pay as long as they have the current defensive depth.
The Italian newspaper reports that Roma may consider advancing an offer for Hincapié only if Roger Ibañez were to exit the club which, as of right now, seems unlikely.
