The sporting director made a “hit and run” as he arrived yesterday afternoon in London, where waiting for him were Pallotta and the rest of the Giallorossi leadership, and remained for only a day. It was a “mini summit” that should not have changed too much in terms of what was already on the table for Roma (i.e Roma will have to sell before they make any purchases in the market). There are two different roads the Giallorossi could take: 1) sell a big name in January, Strootman is the name most talked about in recent weeks, but offers have not arrived; or 2) earn the funds through the sales of surplus players, such as the sales of Bruno Peres and Lukasz Skorupski.
The Brazilian fullback is liked by Benfica and Galatasaray, who have offered €9 million plus bonuses. Monchi wants €12 million in order to earn a plusvalenza, while Peres prefers to play in Portugal. Though, the club who satisfy Roma’s demands will come out on top for Peres. If the transfer were to take place, Roma would accelerate for either Darmian or Juanfran, two low-cost but high-yield operations. Reserve goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski has asked to leave and he is liked in England by Crystal Palace, as Roma have set a €10 million price tag. Yesterday, Castan formalised his transfer to Cagliari for six months, as the Sardinian outfit will pay his entire salary.
