The Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri was present at today’s voting on the public interest for Roma’s new stadium project. The capital club hope to secure a final approval as soon as possible as the review of the plans and documents has been put into motion earlier in October.
Gualtieri addressed the club’s project in a post on Facebook where he reiterated that the objective remains to build the stadium by 2027.
“The goal is to open construction sites in 2024, in order inaugurate the stadium in 2027, on the occasion of the club’s centenary,” he wrote.
“I thank the CEO of Roma, Pietro Berardi, and the Friedkin family who are making a very significant economic effort to invest in Roma’s project which, at the same time, is also an enhancement of a district of the city.”
“The new stadium is a very important work for our city not only for its sporting value but because it represents a real opportunity for the redevelopment and regeneration of an entire area of Rome that has remained without care for too long.”
