Romelu Lukaku was sent off for the first time in almost 400 games in Europe’s top five leagues.

The Belgian striker was shown a straight red card in the second half of last night’s Serie A fixture between Roma and Fiorentina at Stadio Olimpico.

His sending off left Roma down to 9 men as Nicola Zalewski had already earned his second yellow of the night around twenty minutes prior to this.

According to Sportmediaset, Lukaku’s dangerous intervention and resulting straight red could see him be suspended for the next two games.

This would mean that Lukaku would be unavailable for Roma’s upcoming fixtures with Bologna and Napoli.
