Romelu Lukaku could return from injury for Sassuolo fixture

Romelu Lukaku will be sidelined for tonight’s match against Brighton in the return leg of the Europa League Round of 16.

The Belgian striker is experiencing a chronic hip issue that prevented him from training with the rest of the team ahead of their trip to England.

With Lukaku set to miss tonight’s Europa League fixture, Daniele De Rossi is hoping to have him back shortly at his disposal for Serie A’s next matchday.

In fact, Corriere dello Sport reports that the decision to not let Lukaku travel to England was taken along with the club’s medical staff who advised caution when dealing with such a chronic physical issue.

The idea is for Lukaku to rest during these next few days before being once again available for the weekend game against Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. However, Roma could also choose to not risk him any further and extend his time on the sidelines, as a preemptive measure.
