Former Roma striker Romelu Lukaku might be back in Serie A next season—just with a different team.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Belgian won’t return to the Italian capital with the Giallorossi following the expiry of his loan deal. Though, his club future might still be in Italy as he’s attracted strong interest from both Milan and Napoli.
In the wake of Olivier Giroud’s departure, the Rossoneri are actively pursuing a new striker to bolster their attack and have explored the option of bringing Lukaku on loan. However, Chelsea have made it clear that they are not considering another loan for the veteran, presenting a significant hurdle for Milan as they evaluate their next steps.
Meanwhile, Napoli has also shown a strong interest in acquiring the striker. New head coach Antonio Conte, who has a successful history with Lukaku, is keen to reunite with him again.
In fact, the two have already had discussions regarding a potential transfer, indicating a mutual interest. He’d be brought in to replace Victor Osimhen, who the Partenopei are expected to cash-in on this summer.
In addition to Lukaku, Napoli also have their eyes on Girona’s Artem Dovbyk, who scored 24 goals in 36 games this past season.
