Roma continue being linked with a surprise move for striker Romelu Lukaku.

Over recent days, rumors concerning an apparent interest in the Belgian attacker have linked Roma with the possibility of signing Lukaku before the transfer deadline.

The ex-Inter man is yet to find a new team after being excluded from Chelsea’s project.

For the time being, negotiations with Juventus over a potential swap deal with Vlahovic have come to a halt.

Thus, Sky Sport reports that Lukaku could be a tempting idea for Roma if the Giallorossi were to fail in their primary objective of landing Duvan Zapata. At the moment, Roma haven’t engaged in talks for Lukaku.

The costs involved in an operation for Lukaku are deemed to be excessive for Roma’s capabilities. However, Chelsea could agree on a last minute loan deal out of sheer desperation.

For Roma, Lukaku would be a dream signing, but several stars must align – including Chelsea’s limited number of loan slots, with six players being already out on loan – in order for this deal to materialize.
