Romelu Lukaku responds to critics after masterclass in Belgium win

Roma attacker Romelu Lukaku put in a brilliant performance in Belgium’s win over Azerbaijan last night.

The striker was responsible for the first time in the national team’s history for scoring four goals in one single half.

After the game, Lukaku responded to critics via his post-match media appearance.

“I am who I am. In the summer there was a lot of talk about me. I worked hard and remained silent. Now you have seen what I can do.”

“I just did my job. Pelé has won three World Cups with Brazil, I still have nothing to my name with Belgium. So I’m realistic about it. You know: since I was a child I wanted to become Belgium’s all-time best scorer. I did it. After that, I didn’t think about it anymore and kept moving forward. What happens now is a bonus.”
