Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco on Lukaku: “He’s ready to play.”

Belgium national team boss Domenico Tedesco insists he’s not worried by Roma striker Romelu Lukaku’s lack of match time ahead of his team’s European Championship qualifier away against Azerbaijan.

The 30 year-old made his season and Giallororssi debut last Friday when he played 20 minutes in the capital club’s 2-1 loss to Milan.

“Romelu is ready to play,” began Tedesco during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

“Even though he hasn’t played much yet with Roma, he’s done well to stay fit and ensure he’s in-shape. He’ll start for us and this would’ve been the case even if he didn’t play for Roma after they presented last week.”

Adding, “I don’t think he can play all 90 minutes, but he’s ready to play. He’s our captain and a very important player for us.”
