Romelu Lukaku is rumored to be willing to consider extending his stay in the Italian capital as the season winds to an end.
The Belgian striker has been subject of new rumors that suggest he could be pushing for a permanent move to Roma, or at least on a new loan deal from Chelsea despite transfer links with Saudi Arabia.
According to today’s edition of La Repubblica, Lukaku may have communicated to some members of Roma’s management his willingness to stay beyond the expiry of his loan.
The option to buy present in his current deal amounts to €43 million, a sum which Roma cannot – and do not want – to match.
As reported by the newspaper, Roma could consider a new loan, but Chelsea are determined to sell Lukaku this summer and will do anything to get rid of his contract.
Even with a Champions League qualification, Roma would not be able to cover Lukaku’s salary of €12 million/year without Chelsea’s contribution.
