Rudi Garcia: “We discussed Strootman in the winter.”

Rudi Garcia, ex-Roma and current manager of Marseille, made some statements to Journal Du Dimanche on Kevin Strootman:

“The more complicated purchase that I remember is that of Kevin Strootman to Roma. I called him several times, I gave him the names of other purchases we made and I explained to him my game plan in detail. Sometimes he was even captain of the Dutch national team and wanted to play in the Champions League and we were not even qualified for the Europa League. Despite his serious injuries, I think that we couldn’t have regretted the choice. The interest of Marseille? We talked about him in the winter but it was not possible to buy him.
If one day the opportunity arrives to see him at Marseille then I’d certainly like to bring him.”
