Former Roma attacker and Bayer Leverkusen executive Rudi Voeller spoke about the chances of each of the two teams to advance to the Europa League final this year.
In an interview with German outlet Sport Bild, Voeller said, “I spent 5 wonderful years as a player in Rome, I also met my wife there. But in Leverkusen, after years of important responsibilities, I am even more attached to this city. I have spent most of my life here.”
“Last year there wasn’t a favorite: both teams were coming off a complicated season, but now it’s different. In Rome they know it, they saw what happened in Leverkusen and they know that Bayer are the favourites. “
“If Leverkusen plays at the level they have played at all season they will reach the final. However, they must be careful: until a few weeks ago Liverpool were the main favorites and now they are no longer in the competition.”
