Ruggiero Rizzitelli analyzes Tammy Abraham’s scoring slump

Andy Mattioli

Former Roma attacker Ruggiero Rizzitelli recently spoke about Tammy Abraham’s goal-scoring drought and the impact this had on the first half of the Giallorossi’s campaign.

“The thing that worries me the most are his movements on the field. Tammy is losing confidence in his own means,” Rizzitelli told Corriere della Sera.

“The Englishman is in trouble, he probably had his head already at the World Cup and now that he finds himself outside the national team things are not easy. He must work to regain the confidence of Mourinho, the fans but above all to increase his self-esteem.”

“In the last game before the break I saw him really disheartened, it’s not him anymore. What really worries me is the attitude he is showing on the pitch. It almost seems to me that he is the first to no longer believe in himself.”

“I hope the break can do him some good, also because he is the only one who can get out of this situation.”

“Dybala and Belotti’s arrivals potentially being the cause of Abraham’s slump? If that were the case it would be even more serious. It would mean he doesn’t have the right personality to be on a great team.”

“I am afraid that in these first months he spared himself after being convinced that he would go to the World Cup. I would really like to see him on the field with another mindset from January onwards.”
