Portuguese shot-stopper Rui Patricio was only called to make a save tonight in Roma’s emphatic 4-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico.

The veteran goalkeeper was asked to speak to Sky Sport about the team performance that allowed Roma to reach the Conference League semifinals.

“We believed we had what was necessary to play a great game,” said the 34-year-old. “We were excellent on a tactical level.”

“I hoped we would get the result we wanted for the fans especially since so many of them came here today. We did it for them.”

When asked about Roma’s season of ups and downs, Patricio commented, “We always want to aim as high as possible, but it’s not always possible. Our objective is to continue with the mentality we showed tonight and hopefully win a trophy.”

On the semifinal vs Leicester City, “It will be a tough match, like any semifinal of a European competition. Tonight we were up to it, and this Roma knows how to play these kinds of matches on this stage.”

He concluded, “We have a wonderful large audience. We must always maintain this mentality and keep going.”
