Rui Patricio aspires to continue playing as second-choice keeper for Roma

Rui Patricio is still hoping to further extend his stay at Roma as he nears the end of his current deal with the Giallorossi.

The Portuguese veteran shot-stopper saw his minutes drastically diminish under Daniele De Rossi as he was overtaken by Mile Svilar in the manager’s pecking order.

With Svilar set to sign a new long-term deal, Patricio is reportedly pushing to become Roma’s second-choice keeper for next year as well.

According to Il Messaggero, Patricio has made it clear to the club that he would have no problem in acting as Svilar’s mentor and occasionally featuring in Roma’s line-up if needed.

It remains unclear, however, if Roma are open to this possibility.
