Rui Patricio’s latest clean sheet in Roma’s 1-0 victory over Sampdoria on Sunday evening propelled him to the top of the leaderboard for clean sheets in Serie A.
The Portuguese international registered his 13th clean sheet of the season in Serie A and helped extend the Giallorossi’s unbeaten streak after making three crucial saves against the Ligurians.
Patricio leapfrogged Juventus shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny after the Bianconeri were defeated at home 1-0 by Inter. As a result, he and Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanović are the new co-leaders for clean-sheets in Serie A.
The former Wolves man has proven to be a massive upgrade this season, finally ending Roma’s long-awaited search for an adequate replacement to Alisson, who left to join Liverpool in 2018.
For context, Patricio’s predecessor, Pau López, amassed only 9 clean sheets in 53 league appearances during his two seasons in the Italian capital from 2019 through 2021.
