Ruud Gullit defends Mourinho, criticizes Feyenoord’s Arne Slot

Andy Mattioli

Former Milan player Ruud Gullit shared his thoughts on the outcome of Roma-Feyenoord and Mourinho’s post-match reaction.

In an interview with, Gullit analyzed the match and defended Mourinho.

“I think too many Feyenoord players played below their ability, it seemed like they were nervous,” said the Dutchman.

“Mourinho always does something to disturb you, which can be annoying for an opponent on the pitch. It’s incredible that he won with Roma, because Roma don’t win that much.”

“Arne Slot? He shouldn’t have said what he said. If you say, ‘I don’t like the way Roma play,” you’re insulting Mourinho. And it’s stupid, you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. If you look at his resume, it’s amazing how many trophies Mourinho has won. He plays a different kind of football, but he wins.”
